Adult Basic Education courses and support services. Many
participants improve reading or math skills and complete studies
which prepare them for the high school equivalency examination

Literacy
Resources/Rhode Island was established to expand existing
professional capacity within Rhode Island's adult education
community; increase
educators' and learners' capacity to use and interact with
online technology, and assist in improving delivery of services
to adult learners.

New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC) strengthens
adult literacy services in the area through sharing and
collaborative special projects among State Literacy Resource
Centers (SLRC), adult literacy practitioners and policy-makers
in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode
Island and Vermont.

Rhode Island Tech Prep
of the Department of Education prepares students for a highly
skilled technical occupation that allows either direct entry
into the workplace as a qualified technician or continuation
with further education.

The High School Equivalency
Diploma Program, also know as the GED (General
Education Development) program awards a Senior High School
Equivalency Diploma to persons who successfully complete a

Training Provider List is available from the state
Department of Labor & Training's Workforce Investment
Office. A list of certified programs for
Adult and Dislocated Worker participants is also available for
those qualified to enroll in a training program under the
Workforce Investment Act.
