Many people in busy organizations are encouraged to avail themselves of training and education which sometimes takes them away from their normal - and very busy - work routines. Events such as conferences, seminars, and specific content related training programs can be wonderful opportunities to enhance our knowledge and skills. The trouble is that all too frequently we go to these events with little advance thought or planning around how we will use what we learn when we return to work. Therefore, the transfer of our learning usually doesn't pay off to the extent it otherwise might.

This brief presentation is intended to raise your awareness of some of these issues and give you some ideas on how to increase the return on your employer's - and your -  investment in your training. The principles certainly apply to virtually any training content, but are particularly applicable to "soft" skills training, the results of which are often much more difficult to identify and measure.
