Adult
Education & Literacy instruction, through the
Department of Labor, expands educational opportunities for
adults, enabling all adults to acquire the basic skills
necessary to function in society and to secure training that

Materials and Providers
The South Dakota
Literacy Resource Center provides teachers, literacy
professionals, literacy volunteers, local literacy councils,
and new readers with access to the latest literacy
information and materials through on-line services and the
statewide telephone hotline.

South Dakota Tech Prep
prepares students for a highly skilled technical occupation
that allows either direct entry into the workplace as a
qualified technician or continuation with further education.

The GED testing
program offers individuals an opportunity to earn a GED
High School Equivalency Certificate. Most colleges and
employers accept a GED certificate as being equivalent to a
high school diploma. Information on testing centers,
certification and transcripts can be obtained through the
Department of Labor.

One-Stop
Career Centers offer job training programs that can pay
up to half of new employees' wages while they're learning
the job. Job training can be customized for employers
who need workers with specialized skills.
