The
Pennsylvania Workforce Improvement Network (PA WIN)
helps adult basic education providers develop a centralized,
market-driven system of services for employers and incumbent
workers. PA WIN develops and expands the ability of
adult basic education and training providers to provide
high quality workplace foundation skills training and
education programs.

Pennsylvania's Adult
Basic and Literacy Education practitioners can access the
latest research, program innovations, and instructional
resources through the AdvancE State Literacy Resource
Center. The Center, located in the Pennsylvania
Department of Education, is a free service available to all
adult educators in the state.

The Institute for the
Study of Adult Literacy at The Pennsylvania State
University is a part of the College of Education. The
University also conducts educational research and takes part
in outreach projects.

GED tests allow
people to use knowledge they acquire from first-hand
observation, experience, reading, self- directed study,
conversations, informal discussions and just living with
problems, ideas and other people. By passing them,
individuals can earn the Commonwealth Secondary School
Diploma, issued by the Department of Education.

The Pennsylvania
Literacy Corps of the Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy
Education establishes collaborative partnerships between
higher education institutions and providers of adult basic
and literacy education. College students as tutors
help to overcome the illiteracy problem in the Commonwealth.

Workforce provides a common language and understanding of

Literacy, by the Pennsylvania Adult Basic and Literacy
Education Interagency Coordinating Council, looks at the
