The Lifelong
Learning Section supervises the Adult Education and
Literacy Program for the State of Oklahoma. Statewide
Adult Learning Centers provide services in literacy
and basic skills instruction, including reading, writing,
and numeracy, life skills, workplace literacy, English as a
Second Language and GED preparation and testing.

Employment and Training Division of the Oklahoma
Employment Security Commission offers services to both
employers and job seekers. These services are offered
throughout the state at Workforce Oklahoma Centers at no
charge.

The Oklahoma
Literacy Resource Center works to enhance
the provision of literacy services at the state and local
levels by serving as a communication
link between volunteer literacy providers and educational
agencies and institutions. The Center provides grants
to various Oklahoma literacy programs and has a lending
library of video, audio, and print materials.

Oklahoma Tech Prep
of the Department of Career and Technology Education
prepares students for a highly skilled technical occupation
that allows either direct entry into the workplace as a
qualified technician or continuation with further education.

The Center for the
Study of Literacy at the Northeastern State University
provides illiterate or undereducated adults with
training, serves as the clearinghouse for literacy for the

The Oklahoma Literacy
Coalition supports literacy efforts throughout
Oklahoma. Founded in 1986, the Coalition sponsors the
annual statewide literacy conference offering continuing
education opportunities to program leaders, volunteer
tutors, and adult literacy students.
