The New Jersey Department of Education offers GED tests, which are widely used as an equivalent to high school credentials.  New Jersey state-endorsed diplomas are official documents and are nearly always accepted as valid credentials of high school completion by employers, training programs and educational institutions.

The New Jersey Department of Labor offers a variety of programs and services for New Jersey employers.  Its Customized Training Office helps tailor training programs that improve workers' production capabilities and the bottom line.  The office offers financial incentives and provides occupational health and safety training grants.

New Jersey Training Systems is an online guide to workforce training and education programs in New Jersey.  Employers can search for providers of occupational or academic training in New Jersey, as well as portions of New York, Pennsylvania or Delaware.  Training providers can also use the site to add themselves to the list.

The Human Resource Development Institute delivers high quality, comprehensive training for all segments and levels of government organizations.  It offers training and consultation services to state, county, municipal government organizations and individuals.

The Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission provides continuing educational needs for those wanting to upgrade their skills in various work areas.  Adult learners may take courses in basic education, continuing education and ESL.  Career planning and GED preparation help is also available.

New Jersey Tech Prep of the Department of Education prepares students for a highly skilled technical occupation that allows either direct entry into the workplace as a qualified technician or continuation with further education.

New Jersey's John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development provides training for individuals in the workforce development system. It is funded by registration fees and negotiated contracts.

Labor Market Information

The New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce's Education Foundation obtains training grants for incumbent workers who need to keep their skills current. Grants from the DoL Customized Training Program support worker training in ESL, basic skills, technology and computer training, and for ISO9000 Quality Management Systems.
