The Workforce
Education Team of the Nevada State Department of
Education provides leadership for occupational education and
adult education programs. These programs are provided
through secondary and post-secondary institutions, labor
organizations, and community-based organizations.

The Adult Education
Office of the Nevada Department of Education coordinates
adult basic education and adult high school diploma
programs, and General Equivalency Diploma (GED) testing
centers.

The Nevada
Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation is
a network for complete employment, training and
rehabilitative services in Nevada. The
Workforce Investment Support Services Office
oversees employment and training activities provided through
partnership with private non-profit workforce training
service providers.

The Train
Employees Now Program (TEN) offers a state funded,
matching grant program which ensures new and existing
employers have access to a skilled work force.
On-the-job training with employer reimbursement of up to a
maximum of $1,000 per employee is available.

The Nevada State
Literacy Resource Center (SLRC) has books,
newsletters and a wide variety of multi-media resources such
as videos, audiotapes and games for literacy instruction and
programs for literacy students, trainers and tutors. The
SLRC also makes special resources and services available to
literacy program managers.

The Nevada Commission
on Economic Development offers programs that help Nevada
businesses expand and provide strategic leadership and
assistance in areas vital to economic diversification such
as innovation and technology and workforce development.

NevadaWorks
is the northern Nevada workforce Board, which targets
federal and private resources to help employers develop well
trained, productive employees. Using a One Stop delivery
method for employers and employees, NevadaWorks coordinates
the efforts of all training partners to provide maximum
response to employer needs.

The University
and Community College System of Nevada serves the
educational and job training needs of the nation's fastest
growing state. As Nevada's only system of higher education,
the UCCSN provides educational opportunities to more than
90,000 students. Distance
education options are also provided.

Truckee
Meadows Community College (TMCC) provides initial skills
training in such areas as: welding, forklift operation and
safety, database and word processing, plus customized
industry-specific programs. Courses in the standard
curriculum can be put toward a college degree.

The Outreach
College of Truckee Meadows Community College acts as a
broker, matching TMCC resources from all departments and
campuses, with business and community needs. It
delivers customized classes with flexible schedules, on-site
training at business locations or other off-campus
locations, and has trained staff to assess needs for a
wide-range of industries.
