The Arkansas Adult Learning Resource Center assists the Arkansas adult learning community by providing services to adults, and serves as a link between the National Institute for Literacy and the Arkansas adult learning and literacy community.

The Arkansas GED testing program serves all adult Arkansans, not enrolled in or graduated from high school, who meet state requirements regarding residency.  The GED tests measure whether adults can demonstrate the skills and knowledge associated with a four-year high school program of study in the core academic subjects.

Arkansas technical institutes and vocational technical schools offer opportunities for Arkansans who want to enter the job market or who are looking for a career change.  Programs include classes to teach theories and principles in the particular course area, hands-on work to develop job skills, and application of theory to practice.

English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction from Arkansas Adult Education Centers and Literacy Councils provide flexible class schedules, one-on-one and small group tutoring.  With improved language skills, ESL adults are better community members, and better employees, with more possibilities for promotion.
