Volunteer organizations


You can find assistance with developing and delivering your WEP by approaching volunteer organizations.

Many volunteer organizations are able to assist employers in developing employees' basic skills.  Some volunteer organizations do this as part of their regular volunteer commitment to their communities.  Others undertake workplace education on a fee-for-service or cost recovery basis.

Literacy Volunteers of America - New York State, Inc. (LVA-NYS), a nonprofit educational organization, has been developing inservice training and providing technical assistance and support to local affiliate programs in New York since 1974. The training and management services LVA-NYS offers have been instrumental in enabling local groups to build quality programs that provide Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language tutoring.

As America's biggest nonprofit community service organization, the YMCA offers many different types of programs, including mentoring, adult education, college completion and literacy through conferences, training, seminars and workshops.
